2010 Fashion Doll Runway Ellowyne's Kaleidoscope
Entry Number #3: "Prisms and Rainbows" by Denise Boudin
BIOGRAPHY
Denise Marie Beaudin lives in Winnipeg, Canada. During her childhood, she created outfits for her 11-1/2-inch-tall
fashion dolls from the remnants of her mother’s fabrics. In the past few years she began to create outfits for 15-inch dolls and found
time to study pattern making and sewing techniques. She currently works as a Medical Laboratory Technologist. She sells her outfits on
Ebay under the seller ID of Denidolldesigns.
Poem "The Best of Days"
"Return to Elegance" is the theme,
O how will I ever find the right seam?
I ponder my swatches,
As Ellowyne watches.
Ellowyne says, "What about this?"
Prisms captured in each tiny disc.
Each tiny facet where rainbows abound,
This is where the kaleidoscope can be found.
The dress must fit right, but not to the floor,
It can’t be a fright, and please not a bore.
Longer at the back for a hint of a train,
Lined in white so it does not stain.
A hint of lace
Just near the face,
Layers of chiffon underneath,
At the hemline to peek from beneath.
Quick, quick, we must make haste,
It is due in July; there's not a moment to waste.
The monies for charity are to be raised,
So children will have the best of days.
Outfit:
This is a princess seamed dress with fitted bodice that flares into a full skirt that is longer at the back. The neckline is trimmed in
two laces, and then the same two laces are used to create cap sleeves. Three layers of chiffon that have matching sequin embellishments
are sewn to the lower edge of the white lining. The fabric was chosen because the tiny facets that sparkle every color fit the theme
of the kaleidoscope perfectly.
