2010 Fashion Doll Runway Ellowyne's Kaleidoscope
Entry Number #6: “Kaleidoscope” by Sue Stark
BIOGRAPHY

Sue Stark with her great nephew
I've been stitching since the age of nine, when my best childhood friend and I would create couture (or our idea of it!) ensembles
for Barbie® and Midge® while watching Dark Shadows on summer mornings! In the afternoons, we'd produce fashion shows
at the Barbie Boutique®, with Ken® and Allen® sitting in the showroom on their hardboard chairs with their legs
uncomfortably shooting straight out in front of them! They were, however, a MOST appreciative audience. A highlight of my career
occurred when I was asked to reproduce host Sharon Anderson's
wedding costume for her doll, which was displayed on her HGTV program Collectable Treasures
- what a thrill! And another wonderful thing happened last year when a creation of mine (Ellowyne's The Markets of Marrakesh) tied
for second place in the 2009 Fashion Doll Runway competition at the MDCC - it doesn't get any better than that!
Poem: Kaleidoscope
My personal lens was once cloudy and dim,
Would I ever find happiness? Chances seemed slim.
Now the world's in full bloom and I'm able to cope,
With a twist of my little kaleidoscope...
Outfit:
The bodysuit, vest and headband are all made from a premium-quality mini-ribbed knit in aqua, and both the vest and headband feature
"froufy" detailing using a variety of colorful knits. The skirt has been made entirely from an array of grosgrain ribbons
in varying colors, patterns and widths, the stockings and "wristlets" are done in a striped knit, and the stockings have
attached shoes of stiffened grosgrain ribbon (I've used the heels and soles from an existing pair of shoes), the handbag is also of
grosgrain ribbon, and the necklace is made from a dazzling selection of pretty beads which compliment the total look.
