2010 Fashion Doll Runway Ellowyne's Kaleidoscope
Entry Number #8: "Epiphany" by Pat Merrill
BIOGRAPHY
Born in Mobile, Alabama, on the Gulf Coast of Alabama, Pat taught herself to sew when she was about 12 years old. In high school,
she was designing and making her Prom and pageant dresses. Sewing, fashion and needlework became lifelong preoccupations & hobbies.
She created her Sew Retro Designs lingerie pattern/kits as a "green" means of recycling the exquisite fabrics and notions
that were left over when the leading lingerie factories in our region closed.
Poem: Epiphany
There is an epiphany in my grandmother’s trunk,
Deep among ancient treasures and elegant junk,
Where a kaleidoscope of fashion’s high season
Lies dusty and gauche without purpose or reason.
Déjàvu in a sepia face devoid of glee......
Is it possible Ennui didn’t begin with me?
Outfit:
Ellowyne finds her grandmother's trunk with her boudoir doll and matching costume...along with a "vintage" photo...I created
a 6" replica of Ellowyne's outfit to fit her boudoir doll. Her outfit was inspired by a 1920's McCall's boudoir doll pattern.
