2008 Competition Entry Form
Competition Guidelines
Be Sure to Review the Guidelines Before Entering Your Dolls in Competition.
We are looking forward to another exciting competition at the Convention and encourage you to enter your dolls and creations.
The competition provides us all with a great educational opportunity for viewing a variety of dolls and originally designed outfits that we might otherwise never see firsthand.
This year, we will have two People’s Choice Rosettes that will be awarded at the final banquet: one for the Creative Categories and one for Dolls in Original Manufactured Clothing.
When you enter your doll(s) and creation(s) into competition, there are some basic guidelines you need to observe:
- Make sure you place your doll or fashion creation in its proper category. If you have any questions concerning proper placement of your entries, please contact the Competition and Special Exhibit Chair, Margaret Stewart, by telephone or e-mail (see bottom of page).
- You may enter only one doll in each category.
- You may enter all twenty-six (26) categories.
- All entered dolls must be supported on stands.
- In categories one (1) through thirteen (13), include only accessories with the doll that are original to the outfit.
- Each doll you enter should be accompanied by a three-inch by five-inch (3-inch by 5-inch) typed or printed note card. On this card, you should place relevant information about the doll or fashion including any unusual features. Do not write your name on the card.
- Since this is a Modern Doll Collectors Convention®, dolls made prior to 1925 should not be included in this competition.
- A doll that has been a previous blue ribbon winner in a category at the Modern Doll Collectors Convention® should not be re-entered in that category.
- As at past Conventions, we ask that you do not sell dolls in the salesroom that have won ribbons at this year’s Modern Doll Collectors Convention®.
- Hangtags for dolls you enter in competition will be in your Convention packet when you arrive at the Convention.
- Security will be on duty around the clock in the Convention area.
- For insurance purposes and protection of your dolls, please provide a value for each entry.
- Please be sure to make a copy of your competition entry form(s) for yourself. Entries must be postmarked no later than August 18, 2008, to be covered by insurance. After that date, you may still enter competition but you will need to sign a Waiver of Liability.
