NOTE: 2009 info pending![]() Centerpiece photos by Fred Leif; other photos by Charles Brown unless otherwise labeled - click on underlined text to view Even before the convention began, just like last year, a serial novel appeared from an anonymous source, detailing the adventures of Karina, the sister of last year's souvenir girl, Kassie. This story can be downloaded here in PDF form, or from the Yahoo group in chapter-by-chapter DOC form. Official events began with the "Yahoo! Party Breakfast with Wilde Imagination" breakfast, where the "Tiny Expectations" Ellowyne Wilde line doll debuted. During the Opening Mixer, hosted by Vogue Dolls, Inc.
entitled "From Russia with Love" two pair of Ginny Vogue dolls saw their debut - a regular "From Russia With Love" Ginny and a matching Mini-Ginny,
as well as the debut dolls in the "My First Ginny" collection, based on the first dolls of Marge Meisinger - a reproduction of the classic "Alice in Wonderland"
Ginny Vogue that began Marge's collection, and a matching Mini-Ginny.
The final event of the day was hosted by first-time presenter Goodreau Dolls, a dinner entitled "Dali Dollies", which introduced both a resin "Thief" doll and a vinyl "Dali's Muse Karina".
Thursday opened with the "At the Seaside" brunch, hosted by Nancy Ann Storybook Dolls, Inc., which introduced "Wade", "Summer" and a charming little Mermaid doll
One other major event of the day was the Seminar "The Real Life Behind the Dolls of Heidi Plusczok" which included a limited edition doll and special outfit for sale. This was followed by "High Altitude Tea," hosted by Berdine Creedy Originals, Inc., which showcased her "Butterfly Kids" BJD dolls, including one that went parachuting.
The "Paris Café Society" dinner followed this, hosted by Robert Tonner. This 1920's themed-evening featured the Deveraux Sisters, Renée and Louise, and included a centerpiece featuring a miniature Eiffel Tower.
Friday opened with a Boneka Brunch, introducing both the Rosebud and Faye dolls.
The convention's final day began with the Rini breakfast, hosted by Horsman, LTD. - another new presenter for MDC. They presented two Rini dolls - a Bed Time Rini and a Prom Night Rini - as well as a preview of their upcoming Vita doll.
As usual, this year's convention also featured a combined Competition Room and Exhibit Hall our Helper room - with over 160 donated items! - and our salesroom. A history of the Modern Doll
