The Modern Doll Convention offers a series of free informational Programs every year.
There is no charge for these programs, however, seating may be limited for some and is on a first-come, first-served basis.

Newcomer Orientation - 10:00 a.m. - 10:45 a.m.
Presenter: Patsy Moyer, President, Modern Doll, Inc.
Patsy invites all newcomers to the Modern Doll Collectors Convention® to join her for an orientation session. After she welcomes
you all to the convention, Patsy will give you the background on how the Modern Doll Collectors Convention® evolved to the
organization that it is today. She will then guide you through the next few days of the convention and let you know what you can expect.
If you have any questions or concerns about the Convention, now is the time to ask them. And even if you are not a "newcomer," you are invited
to attend this program and - who knows - you might find out something you didn't know!

Berdine Creedy, The Magic of "Glamzies" - 9:30 a.m.- 11:00 a.m.
Presenter: Berdine Creedy
Join Berdine Creedy as she introduces you to one of her newest and most glamorous creations ? The Glamzies!
She will demonstrate how you can take a Glamzie, which has already been painted, and finish it up as your own by
adding such things as lace, ribbons, tiny buttons ? anything you can imagine. Berdine will give you a slide show
and there will be games to play and lots of prizes to win! Should be lots of laughter and fun!

Alexander Girls Dressed for a Party - 2:00 p.m.- 3:00 p.m.

Pat Burns brings her expertise on Alexander dolls to our convention with a Power PointTM program
featuring Alexander dolls in party dresses ? including wedding attire ? to go with the "It?s A Party!" theme of
the Convention. Included in her program will be every phase of dolls in party dresses from cloth to the current ones.
She will have a handout for everyone as well as some little prizes.
Seminar
During the convention, we generally have events like Seminars, Gatherings, and other side events.
All are welcome to attend these for free, but pre-registration is encouraged due to limited space.
Occasionally, these events have special dolls available - those who would like to receive the dolls
offered must pre-pay any fees, as noted.
If all the dolls are not pre-sold out, they will be available at the Registration Desk after the event.

for learning various doll-related activities.
It is recommended that workshop students bring battery-powered clip-on or small plug-in lights to use,
if they have and feel they might need them, in addition to any materials listed in the Students should bring sections.
Please check start and planned end times for all workshops, seminars, gatherings and events, as some overlap occurs.

Boot Stompin? Party - 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Presenter: Sissy Lingle
Your 10-inch, 11-inch, or 12-inch doll will be ready for the BOOT STOMPIN' BOOGIE in her new Dolly H'ugg boots. Seamstress Sissy
will guide you through the simple stitch needed to sew together a pair of boots. You will receive the pieces already cut from tan, chocolate or pink faux suede/shearling
fabric, and cord, beads, buttons or felt flowers with which to decorate your finished boots. Detailed directions will
also be provided.
Students should bring:Your 10-inch, 11-inch or 12-inch doll, a simple sewing kit with scissors and needles, magnifier and needle threader, if needed.

It?s A Party! Ribbon Leis For A Hawaiian Party - 3:00 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.
Presenter: Bo Bergemann
In Hawaii you cannot have a party without leis. Bo will teach you how to make ribbon leis for your doll, both Haku (head) leis and the traditional neck leis.
Using the tools and instructions in your kit which you will take with you, you will be able to make additional leis for
all your dolls at home so that they, too, can have a Hawaiian party!
Students should bring:Your favorite doll to make the leis for. All other supplies will be provided. The tools used to make the leis will be yours to take home ? so you can make more!

Weekend Slumber Party - 8:30 - 10:30 AM

Join Rosemarie as she takes you through the steps to complete a pair of flannel pajamas and a pre-embroidered nightgown which will require some simple embroidery on the seams.
Also included is a rag doll which you will assemble during the workshop.
Students should bring: Basic sewing kit.

Invitation To A Pool Party - 9:00 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.
Presenter: Ginni Berg
Your favorite doll has just received an invitation to a pool party. You will add the finishing touches to a swimsuit
of stretchy material which will fit Ann Estelle and friends, LeeAnn, Lissy, Boneka?s Tuesday, Bleuette, and other
dolls of the same sizes, including some BJDs. You will sew a snap on the skirt, straps on a tote bag and make some
cute sandals to match. There will also be a sun hat to decorate and Ginni will even throw in a towel for you. Bring
your doll for the best fit of the suit and sandals.
Students should bring: Basic sewing kit and your doll..

Let?s Have A Cookie Party - 2:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Presenter: Summer Zilles
Betsy and her Grandma are getting ready to have their annual cookie party. In this workshop, you will be decorating aprons,
making oven mitts, decorating cookies, making sugar bags, flour bags, butter containers and Crisco containers. Along the
way, Betsy or her friends (this will fit many different dolls) will receive a rolling pin, cookie sheet, cookies, cookie
dough, kitchen towel, dish rag, a grocery bag, a mixing spoon, a set of bowls, and an outfit with house slippers.

Invitation To A Real Indian Pow Wow

Presenter: Phyllis Long
Your doll will need a new dress, a pair of moccasins and a gathering pouch so she can attend the Pow Wow attired properly. You will need to sew on snaps,
cut fringes at the hem and collar and embellish with beads. The moccasins and the gathering pouch will be partially
constructed so all you will need to do is hand finish. This costume will fit most 10-inch to 10-1/2-inch dolls such as
those by Alexander, Kish, Creedy, Tonner and others. A photograph of the finished outfit will be included in the kit.
Students should bring: A pair of small sharp-pointed scissors to cut fringe.

Keep Those Ears Covered: Knitting Earflap Hats for Your Dolls
- 2:00 p.m. - 4:15 p.m.

Presenter: Suzi Langellier
In this workshop, you will learn the skills necessary to knit earflap hats for your dolls. You will start with a basic hat that can then be embellished or worked in
colors, but you must be able to cast on, knit and purl without assistance before attending the class. You will be working
with five double-pointed needles in size 0, fingering yarn, stitch markers, and detailed instructions all of which are
provided. The workshop will teach you to cable cast-on, make I-cords, and work in the round. Instructions will be
provided for both MSD-size dolls and YO SD-size dolls, such as this year's convention doll.
