Modern Doll Collectors Convention® 2011
2010 Fashion Doll Runway Ellowyne's Kaleidoscope
Modern Doll will again host our charity event, Fashion Doll Runway, this fall at the annual
Modern Doll Collectors Convention in Winston Salem, NC. We invite you to participate. The doll
featured in this year's event will be Wilde Imagination, Inc.'s Ellowyne
dressed to represent the convention theme, "Kaleidoscope". This event will benefit Brenner Children's Hospital of Winston/Salem.
Contest Rules:
Rule 1. Make an outfit to fit a basic Wilde Imagination Ellowyne interpreting the theme "Kaleidoscope". You may interpret the theme any way you see fit in any fashion you wish.
Hint: Definitions of Kaleidoscope:
1a. An optical instrument in which bits of glass, held loosely at the end of a rotating tube, are shown in continually changing symmetrical forms by reflection in two or more mirrors set at angles to each other.
1b. A continually changing pattern of shapes and colors.
1c. A continually shifting pattern, scene, or the like: The 1920s were a kaleidoscope of fads and fashions.
Rule 2: Each entry must include a poem - in Ellowyne fashion.
Rule 3. Each entry must include a 25-word description of the outfit
Rule 4. Each entry will include a 25-50-word biography and photo of the designer.
Rule 5. There will be 12 finalists. Their costumes and an Ellowyne doll will be auctioned for a local charity benefiting Brenner Children's Hospital which is part of the Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center.
"At Brenner Children's Hospital, we are the experts in children's medicine. We have the region's only pediatric specialists who are trained in both pediatrics and their specialty areas, ensuring your child receives the best care possible. We are also home to the area's only pediatric emergency and trauma center with equipment designed and sized specifically for children. And each one of our doctors, nurses and staff specializes, not only in treating children, but in putting them at ease. So we can heal children more effectively than other hospitals. That's when knowledge makes all the difference."
Last year our Fashion Doll Runway auction, run by board member Billie Stevens, raised $5,000 for the local children's hospital.
The designer or a proxy walks the dolls down the runway at convention, and the outfit is auctioned off to the highest bidder. This is a fun and exciting event for all our convention participants.
The first, second and third place winners in this contest will receive a doll. In addition we post a poll on our web site and also choose an on-line winner by popular vote that will also receive a doll. Our judges last year were Robert Tonner, Helen Kish and Debra DeForte of Wilde Imagination.
